VICTORIA COLTS COME ON
BOARD WITH CAMMELL LAIRDS
Cammell Lairds have announced the formation of a youth team
in conjunction with Victoria Colts. The team, which will play
in the West Cheshire Youth League, will be spearheaded by
management team Sean Byrne, Gary Head and Steve Major and
it is hoped they will experience the successes enjoyed by
the first team of the Unibond League newcomers.
Club Secretary Paul Mcloughlin said; "This is another
great landmark for Lairds, we are in discussions with the
Football Association to gain Charter Standard status, an essential
part of this is community activity. The development of youth
football with Victoria Colts will be invaluable as we develop
the club infrastructure to keep up with the successes the
first team boys have been achieving."
He continued..
"Victoria Colts are one of the best known junior football
clubs in the area, their aim is to provide a pathway for potential
Beckhams and Gerrards to play and learn football with the
underlying enjoyment being an essential part of the process.
This new partnership means that it doesn't end at 18, if a
player is good enough they could find themselves playing semi
professional football for the first team of Cammell Laird
Football Club."
Cammell Laird Youth manager Sean Byrne said "We've had
a frustrating situation in the past where good players have
reached our age limit and been picked off by other clubs out
of the Wirral area, to be part of Lairds means that there
is no dead end in the pathway and we are looking forward to
seeing one of our boys playing locally at a senior level wearing
the Camel on their shirt"
